Seminários CICS 2007
UMinho, Sala de seminários, piso 0 do edifício do ICS, pelas 14h30m
O seminários do Centro de Investigação em Ciências Sociais (CICS), contará com a presença do Prof. Steven Yearley da Universidade de Edimburgo e do ESRC Genomics Policy and Research Forum que irá falar de "Social Science Research on "Genomics" in the UK - Sociologists in Search of a Policy Audience".
Resumo:
"In the last 5 years the UK has seen an enormous investment in social science research on genomics and its social implications. The government has provided this funding because it anticipates large-scale social transformations based around this new knowledge and the associated technologies. In this talk I want to give an outline of this funding initiative (within which I work as Director of the Genomics Forum), give some indications of the kinds of research conducted (and some of the results to which it has led) and reflect on the way that this research has succeeded (or failed) in communicating with policy makers and the public."
Nota biográfica:
O Prof. Steven Yearley é "Professor of the Sociology of the Scientific Knowledge" da Universidade de Edimburgo desde 2005 e Director do ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) Genomics Policy and Research Forum desde Setembro de 2006.
