Doctoral Program on Bioengineering Systems - Call for Applications

One-year Advanced Study Course + Doctoral Program in Bioengineering leading to Advanced Study Diplomas and PhD degrees jointly awarded by the Portuguese Universities.
The Technical University of Lisbon, NOVA - the New University of Lisbon, The University of Minho with the support of MIT - the Massachusetts Institute of Technology  and with the collaboration of the Portuguese Centres of Excellence in Research  (Laboratorios Associados): ITQB - IGC - ET -Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica; CNC - Centro de Neurociências e Biologia Celular; REQUIMTE -Rede de Química e Tecnologia; IBB - Instituto de Biotecnologia e Bioengenharia are launching a novel
The Advanced Studies Course will focus both on the core areas of Bioengineering and on Innovation in Biotechnology, with curriculum developed jointly by MIT and Portuguese staff. Extensive support will be given by distinguished MIT Professors.
Selected students will later engage in a doctoral program with prolonged stays at MIT and with joint research supervision, in the framework of collaborative projects.
The Advanced Course will appeal both to students looking for an outstanding doctoral program and to qualified professionals seeking to focus their career on the booming Biotechnology area.

Applicants must hold a University degree conductive to doctoral studies by the 7th of September 2007, at the latest.
